We had an amazing residential in Edinburgh. P5-7 helped plan the whole thing and we all made very eco conscious decisions. For example we took a minibus and parked it and then walked everywhere for the 3 days. We planned our menus and bought only food that we needed so there was no waste. We learned about helping animals in danger of becoming extinct at the zoo. We found out so much at the museum too.
So much to learn and experiment with like the windmill that we were learning how to make air into power. Sometimes we love to just take a minute and read. Quite often we choose to read the First News Paper and we often find interesting news about the environment, climate change and other eco issues. We always try to share these in assemblies.
Even when we go on trips we can now order a grab and go and it comes from the High School kitchen in paper bags. They still use plastic containers though so we are hoping this will be something that changes soon. We had an open afternoon to show our parents and families what we have been learning. We have digital profiles and this time we showed them to our parents. These often include posts about our eco team activities
We always like to make our own cards for people. We try and use recycled stuff too. We hand deliver them too if we can! Here are our 2 P1's delivering a card they made to the Head Teacher Mr Millar-Craig.
More work in the poly tunnel! Everyone gets stuck in helping with all the jobs that need doing. As part of World Book Day our Reading Team decided to set up a Book Swap. We all donated books and got tokens to take books we wanted to read. It is a really good idea.
